Summer 2023 Anime Tierlist: Passing Judgement on Seasonal Anime Offerings

Image
As the summer season comes to an end, it's the perfect time for a tier list to vent my frustration about the numerous disappointing shows I watched this season while I wait for Fall animes to start. If you were waiting on any these shows because you weren't sure if they're worth watching or for some other reason, then maybe this list will help you decide if you want to give them a try or not. There were alot of shows airing in summer season so if you don't see a show on the list it's because either I wasn't interested in it or I hadn't watched the previous seasons (Rurouni Kenshin, Duke of Death, Bleach etc). Also, this is primarily a tierlist so I'll try to keep it brief Disclaimer: • This tier list is EXTREMELY subjective • If you're triggered by someone having different opinions than yours then this might not be for you • My opinions regarding mainstream and/or popular shows are usually very different from the general masses. Just something to ke...

About Me

Hey there, fellow anime nerds... or newbies! I am Alyssa and this is my little slice of the internet where I'll be archiving my thoughts on anime while trying to live through a life as uneventful and boring as a filler episode. So, grab your favorite plushie, get comfy, and let's discuss anime!

When I'm not buried under uni work or chores at home, you'll find me indulging in my introverted hobbies. The mortal world is however, a cruel place and I'm surrounded by people who think I'm an alien just because they don't understand my niche tastes. And so, having no real life friends, I'm left with no choice but to rant about anime into the void that is the internet

I'm an anime enthusiast and extraordinaire! Whether it's watching new seasonals, looking up fanarts of my favorite characters, thinking up fanfic ideas for them or overworking my brain to try and figure out the motives behind their life choices, it's my happy place and a perfect retreat from the mortal world. Through relatable characters and heartfelt stories, I've learned that it's okay to be different, to embrace my quirks, and to cherish the connections I do have, even if they're mostly online. Thanks to online communities, I've found fellow introverts who also prefer fangirling for hot anime characters over small talk. Anime communities are a space where I can be unapologetically me — awkwardness and all. Knowing that gives me much comfort and peace of mind

Honestly, with how boring my life is, I've learnt to be content with the little things it has to offer like, barely 2 seconds of screentime for my favorite character in the whole show, my favorite seiyuu voicing a hot character in an anime I like and finding a new title to obsess over

Some of my favorite shows are Attack on Titan, Kono oto Tomare, 86, Astra Lost, Fruits Basket, Dr Stone, Noragami, Psycho Pass, Snow White with Red Hair and the list goes on. We don't talk about BSD here because, if I did start talking about how much I love that show then I'm afraid this post won't end. So, I'll save that discussion for another day. Just know that no other show could ever even hope of coming close to bsd, that's how much I love it

The thing about me is, I'm very prone to liking underrated, hidden gems kind of shows that fly under most people's radar because they're too busy watching the newest hit shounen series or whatever is popular that season. So, if you're sick of everyone talking about the same 5 shows that are the most popular each season and would like to know what else is worth watching then you're in the right place. You'll find me talking about shows that no one else is watching or talking about

I'm also a gamer. While most games fail to catch my attention, I'm very loyal to the ones that do succeed. I've been consistently playing Genshin, Mayoi and Slbp for years now

Aside from that, I'm interested in Japanese language and have been learning it at a somewhat steady pace this year

I also listen to radios and songs of my favorite seiyuus. You might see me geek out about them here and there, if I hear them in a show I'm watching

Annnnnd, there you have it — a glimpse into the life of an introverted, anime-loving couch potato who finds solace in the virtual world of pixels. If you're looking for anime recommendations, reviews, tierlists, awkward anecdotes and a safe space where being a wallflower is celebrated and hot takes don't get you cancelled, you've found your virtual oasis

Thanks for reading this far and if you decide to stay, you're most welcome and I hope what you get to read goes well with your tea or coffee... or whatever you prefer sipping both metaphorically and literally
